Excellent introduction to Ego Psychological Theory
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Dr. Goldstein's book provides students with a survey of the major contributors to ego psychological theory. To her credit, she manages to effectively communicate sometimes difficult material without resorting to the complicated jargon that one often finds in similar psychoanalytic texts. Ego Psychology and Social Work Practice 2nd Edition enables beginners to appreciate some of the insights of the ego psychologists without having to read and interpret the original texts. This would be a daunting task and unnecessarily laborious for a beginning student. It also provides more experienced clinicians the opportunity to review material germane to clinical practice or as an accompaniment to more advanced reading.

A superb piece
Rating: 5/5

I must be honest, I never thought I would find myself reading the Harry Potter series. After my friends started to read them, I joined the bandwagon expecting an average book. How wrong I was! I wish these books would have come out when I was younger, so I wouldn't be stuck with reading the Baby-Sitters Club series.
As the initial book in the series, it sets the tone for the rest. He will always be up to some scheme, whether sneaking around school, or facing an evil villian. Hopefully, I haven't given away to much, in hopes that you will read the magic that is Harry Potter.

Farseeker!
Rating: 5/5

Ok, I have to say that Isobelle Carmody is one of the most talented writes out there. The character Elspeth Gordie, is described well, and I feel I can relate to her. I recommend you read this book (not before Obernewtyn of course) and travel through a world of the future with Elspeth as she discovers the hardships of being a `misfit' and uncovers new talents. Its weird to think, that you never know, some thing like this could be our future Earth. This book, most definitely deserves 5 stars(or more!)

Hard work worth the effort...
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Doing Zen is hard. Doing neuroscience is hard. Doing both and writing an objective work on them together is a near impossibility. Dr. James Austin has succeeded. This work is a marvelous combination of western scientific objectivity and Buddhist detachment. I recommend it to anyone who meditates and asks themselves, what's going on in my brain as I do this?
I must admit, this book was not an easy read for me. I am not trained in human anatomy or brain structure. I used several medical books and a brain coloring book to keep the parts straight in my mind. (hmm, I used my mind to keep the parts of my brain in order.) I am a more enlightened person for my struggles with medical terminology. I thank Dr. Austin for his efforts in putting this work together.

Beatty is Brilliant
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
In my opinion, Paul Beatty is the most talented contemporary author I have ever read. As a white teenage girl living in a middle-class neighborhood, on the surface it seems that I have little in common with a young black street poet. I loved the book because of its memorable and expertly drawn charachters, the funny little quirks that made their lives real, and both Beatty's and his main charachter Gunnar's deep love for language. The poet in Beatty is evident in the novel, taking it further than any ordinary writer could. And Beatty is no ordinary writer. Plot, tone, style and characterization meld together into a delicious novel that is wonderfully fulfilling and yet leaves you yearning for more..
