My first year security blanket
Rating: 5/5

I spent a good bit of time with this little book before and during my first year in law school. I read it very carefully, and even wrote out answers to the questions. The effort was well worth it. If you're scared to death, don't know what to expect, and want to do well, this book won't let you down. Hegland begins the process of teaching a law student how to think, and helps one keep the big picture in mind. This book also started my profitable relationship with the nutshell series.

This is a great story...Fallon is awesome!! Martha is hilarious, and the heroine is adorable. I do not understand the big hubub about the wife beating--someone got a spanking, but nobody got beaten. Getting a spanking and getting BEATEN are two completely different things as many unfortunate souls could tell you. Besides, it is a book, read for entertainment value. And what a great book it is! Check it out!

Fun, but it contains a lot of fiction

Bryson captures some of the whimsy of those who seek to hike the entire length of the Appalchian Trail. Unlike most books on the subject, this narrative is not entirely a factual account. Although some thruhikers discount the value of book because of the lack of authenticity, it is still an enjoyable read. None of his tales are larger than those told by fellow hikers. The abridged audiobook version is read by Bryson and is immensely enjoyable. His mixture of mid-Western, English, and New England accents adds to the enchantment of the story.Don't take the book too seriously, and enjoy the armchair adventure. Then go for a real walk on one of America's treasures.

If you like diary type books you will love Letters from Rifka. It is an informational yet page-turning, fun book. The author describes the main character, Rifka's, emotions and thoughts very well. You feel, as you read the book, that you become a part of Rifka. You are absorbed into a journey of struggle, happiness, and sorrow as Rifka journies her way to America. I recommend this book to girls of all ages. Some books make World War 2 seem boring but this book is excellant. By having a teenage girl as the main character it makes the book a lot easier for a teenager to read because they are able to see what is going on from a understandable point of view.

Excellent book to support suicide prevention for all readers
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
As a survivor of suicide, support group leader, crisis intervention specialist and teacher, I strongly recommend this book. It is suitable for any age group when properly supported by adults comfortable with this topic. Since 1980, the suicide rate has doubled for 10-14 year olds. Dialog must begin early and Garland offers us a wonderful opportunity to do just that without promoting her personal point of view. By reaching out to her readers to discuss this sensitive subject, she models the behavior that they may choose emulate - reaching out to others. Well done!!

within the space of a lifetime, ugly realities inevitably arise in both our outer and inner worlds. i have tended to accept this and assume there are not any answers, only more troubling truths. yalom's book explores this risky terrain with a brilliance and lucidity that i had not thought possible. i read this over two years ago, i have read it again in pieces many times since then. it would not be an exageration to say it has changed my life. i have often thought that god's secret instruction book has been revealed to the struggling human species and am grateful to live in a place and time that i could glimpse into the ummeasurable profound.

Fun Romp Through Time!

This is the convoluted and captivating story of Ned Henry, a professional time traveler in 2057. After one too many "drops", Ned is sent back to the Victorian era for rest and relaxation after he corrects an incongruity created by a fellow time traveler. To say that things don't go exactly as planned is an understatement! The hilarious characters and situations are entirely believable, and the plot twists and turns delightfully. The convolution makes the story so much more enjoyable that it's hard to quibble over the technical details Willis insists on trying to explain. I found myself laughing out loud and thoroughly caught up in this adventure. Guaranteed to pull you out of a reading slump!

Absolutely excellent
Rating: 5/5

I am completely impressed with this book. As being a fairly learned person as well as having read a MULTITUDE of books on the subject, I have found none which come anywhere near the excellence of this book. Above that, it is also extremely readable, not at all dense or boring.
This is one of those books where I find myself underlining every other paragraph because something the author has written rings so true or clarifies an aspect of depression so well. And on a subject so poorly dealt with on the all and all, it is a refreshing book and immensely helpful. It is inconceivable that one would regret having spent the money for the purchase price of this book.
I unequivocally recommend this book. 5 stars is not a high enough rating.

We are recommending this book to the visitors of the designzine.com Web site, the online newsstand for design. While many of the voracious readers of design book have become familiar with some few auto designs by Le Corbusier, Gropius, and others, there was no intelligent study before this contribution by Ivan Margolius, an architect himself, that so fully documents the subject. Happily, the literate text is not infused with the kind of macho techno-speak found in most standard car books. We like that the book was made easy to read by the non-intrusive graphic design of Alun Evans and Katy Hepburn (not the movie star).

Must Read for the Fair and Balanced.

What I expected was a vitriolic diatribe assailing some of the leading propagandists of the right. Instead Al Franken has written a heartfelt book which is much more funny and insightful than I expected. Most surprising to me was how callous the rightists were in creating their lies and how fearful they were of people discovering that those lies were mostly fabricated on purpose. If this book is any indication of the true motives of those seeking to create a new Nazi party here in America, I already know they will supply Al with more than enough material for a sequel "More Lies from the Lying Liars Who Tell Them." Thank you Al (and Team) for a great rollicking read.
