My favorite book of all-time
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
This book was recommended to me by a friend. It was built-up highly so I had high expectations. Those high expectations were met and exceeded. Although the book seemed long when I first started (nearly 1000 pages), I dreaded the book coming to an end. The story is so exciting and the characters are so well-crafted that I wanted the book to continue. The story has a lot of characters and the story is weaved together flawlessly. The characters are vivid; they are not dull and boring. The story spans many years and many locations. It has exotic travel, love, war, feuding, troubles and victories, espionage and so much more. I read the book rabidly and found it very difficult to stop reading (even though I sometimes read far into the night). I highly recommend this book to everyone and know you will not be disappointed with this fantastic book.

One of my first reads in the romance field.
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I originally read this title many years ago and was absolutely impressed with the storyline, the characterization, and the descriptions. This book is what originally made me "Love A Lindsey" and nothing about it has changed in years. A lot of people don't realize that this book was written over 20 years ago, and in the 70's romance was not "politically correct". Who wants it that way, when you have spectacular stories and terrific "connection" between characters? As far as I'm concerned, this is one of Lindsey's BEST.

One relevant prescription even for today
Rating: 5/5

One major idea of Galbraith remains with me, and I think has relevance for today also. It is that the private enterprise economy of the United States has not given enough of its resources to infrastructure needs. This is apparent in the United States today , and great investments are needed to shore up aging systems.
Galbraith is a very fast- minded, and enjoyable writer with a real sense of humor. He made reading Economics in my college days a bit more pleasurable. It is unfortunate that the economic Abundance of the Affluent Society has not yet reached all Americans much less all of Mankind. But Galbraith did see that the dismal misery of the mass of mankind the hard economic reality which had applied through the ages no longer applied in America. This perception was true in the fifties and is even more true today.

Even funnier than The Road to Gandolfo.
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Mass Market Paperback
I thoroughly enjoyed The Road to Gandolfo, but this novel is superior. The principal characters are back, with a new female character created to replace the lost love of lawyer Sam Devereaux's life. This is a terrific satire of the American economic and political system and the incompetence of people at the highest levels of authority. I left this book feeling that in some small way, all of us are Wopotamis

Amazingly Excellent

The first time I read this book was when I was a student in the Institute of Technology in 1976. At that time, I was fascinated by how exceptional this author is in his ability to simplify complex subjects. The book covers all the essentials of electronics, explained in a very clear and simple language. Very easy to follow. Not only do you learn the subject without suffering, but you really enjoy it. Today, I am a technical author/communicator. I am buying this new edition just for the memory. I just love it.

Educated storytelling
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
I love books in which one doesn't notice the actual *writing*, because the story is so well told. This is such a book. The narrative is seamless, despite the fact that the story is told in three parts. When I'd finished the novel, I felt as if I'd just heard the story from a living person's mouth.
In addition, I absolutely loved the way Diamant acknowedges that the Hebrew people were not, originally, a completely monotheistic culture. We tend to obscure this fact, mostly because our religious texts only mention one deity, but most evidence shows that the early Hebrews were just as polytheistic as every other civilization.

Simply enchanting...
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
As one furthering an interest in Victorian novels, I thought the novel to be deeply enthralling. I found myself caring so much for the shy beauty, Molly Gibson, that I was impatient to get to the end --- yet I was enchanated by every word of the novel. There are so many elements to the novel outside of two young girls developing into womanhood in mid-Victorian society. Gaskell's attention to small details about everyday life and mannerisms is delightful. The characters are far from static and have the capacity to make you fully care (be it positively or otherwise) about them.I only wish a proper ending could have been writing, though perhaps one is not necessary.

Best Incentive for Literacy I've ever seen!

Brin creates this universe of the Postman in such a unique viewpoint. I've never seen such an environment described in such believable terms before. I've read it 4 times now, and I hope to again have the time to read it. It gets better and better each time you read it - and it changes the way you feel about life in the process.
The best way I can describe it is that every time you read it - you can notice a new aspect of the ongoing story with each reading.
David Brin is writing genius with books like Earth, Startide Rising, and with the Postman. I hope he continues to bring us to where no other science fiction author dares to take us..

very enjoyable Neanderthal story
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Prehistoric man has been an interest of mine for many years. I look for articles about Cro-Magnons and Neanderthals in the New York Times, and I try to watch shows about them on the Discovery Channel. I also love science fiction about them -- I read "The Ugly Little Boy" and "Gnarly Man" years ago, and still love them. "The Silk Code" was a very satisfying Neanderthal story. The novel has more than that, but the Neanderthal part definitely came alive to me. I read "Darwin's Radio" last year, but enjoyed "The Silk Code" more.
