Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold - book cover picture

Lewis is a literary genius - that much is certain. But this book is extraordinary as no other I have known. With each reading, one is pulled into the depths of one's self, and forced to come face to face with new levels of truth. Each time you will take away with you a new revelation. If you have ever been angry at God, or wondered why things were so unfair, this is definitely the book for you. (Although I would recommend it to anyone.) Truly a magnificent piece of literature.

A pratical book about team leadership

Book title: The Art of Project Management
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
The Art of Project Management - book cover picture

There are many books about project management, and most of them focused on managing the process instead of the team. This book is unique in its focus on the project manager himself, describing his balancing act among conflicting forces in the practice of project management. It promotes the idea of "art of project leadership" instead of "science of project management processes" for the success of PM. Its emphasis on communication, leadership and good decision making is very practical to day to day practice of any PM.

The only drawback is that there are no enough graphs, images or diagrams that can increase the entertaining experience.

Edge of Victory I: Conquest (Star Wars: The New Jedi Order, Book 7) - book cover picture

This is probable one of the best Star Wars novels written since the last Zahn book. Anakin is perfecly done, and a vision is givin about his role in the future, that he will be the focal point of the war, and that his actions will either save the galaxy or send it into a darkness not seen since the Sith were originally defeated. I will be interested in finding out how Anakin turns out, either a light side force or a sith lord. I will be one of the first to buy the next installment in the series.

This is an excellent book!

Holes (Readers Circle) - book cover picture

I found Holes, by Louis Sachar, an engaging, quick read. The personalities and delinquencies of the various characters are exceptionally vivid. I usually prefer books that are more fantastic and unreal, but Holes suited my fancy anyway. This book evoked my sympathy and anger at characters without being so manipulative of the emotions that I couldn?t think for myself. I love how, every now and then, chapters skip to events that happened long ago but are incredibly relevant to the on-going plot. This gives you a whole new set of characters to love or hate. These side stories may not seem to have a purpose, but the book wouldn?t make sense without them. Overall, Holes was intriguing, and I couldn?t put it down until I had read it cover to cover.

We Band of Angels : The Untold Story of American Nurses Trapped on Bataan by the Japanese - book cover picture

This is a gripping story of the nurses and their experiences during the Japanese takeover of Corregidor and Batan. I read it over Memorial Day weekend and it was indeed a fitting time to read the great work by Elizabeth Norman. I couldn't put it down. I was fascinated with the story of these women who were so brave when faced with horrible conditons to work in. In spite of the conditions they never failed their patients. You do not have to be a nurse to appreciate this book. Thank you Dr. Norman for giving us this story.

To the Nines (A Stephanie Plum Novel) - book cover picture

I've been hooked on the Stephanie Plum series from the first page of the first book, "One for the Money". "To the Nines" delivers the same humor and mishaps that usually follow Stephanie around; however, this book delivers a new formula of humor. Instead of blowing up and destroying vehicles, Stephanie destroys the bodyguards assigned to her by Ranger - her mentor and fellow bounty hunter. Instead of the usual funeral home disasters at the hands of Grandma Mazur, we have visions from Morelli's Grandma Bella. This book provides laugh-out-loud humor, fast-paced action, and a good mystery that will keep you reading well into the night. The usual characters are still present - Valerie, Grandma Mazur, Morelli, and Lula. I can hardly wait until book 10!

Book title: Baby

Baby - book cover picture

"Baby," by Patricia MacLachlan, is a lesson for both young and old. Reading about the one year of growth that Larkin's family as well as Sophie experience, moved me to tears. The weaving together of grief and happiness, showed that really life cannot always be pure joy, as we may want it to be. It is Sophie, the infant outsider, who brings a family together and allows the "unmetionable" to be address. Having recently suffered a death in my own family, I felt very similar to Larkin, who is afraid to talk to her parents for fear of hurting them even more. I would recommend "Baby" for anybody, esp. those dealing with grief. It truly woke me up, to the power of words. But be warned keep the box off tissues ready, this is a tear jearker in the trueest sense.

Rebecca - book cover picture

I'd always liked reading romance, you know the kind of old-fashioned one. This was one of my favourites. It's about this young girl, who is bossed (not exactly) by a nosey old lady. When this lady finds out that the guy sitting in the next table is Maxim, the fellow who appeared in the newspapers, she goes along & tries to establish contact. The girl(some how Du Maurier manages to finish the story withiut revealing her name), is embarassed & after a lot of confusion, finds that she actualy likes Maxim & he says that he likes her too & wants her to come with him. She does so & after going to his home, Manderley(That's how it begins..'Last night I dreamt I was in Manderley again')she thinks that she is not as good a replacement for Rebeca (who was the 1st wife of Maxim) In the end she finds BIG surprise waiting for her! But I won't tell u that, for it'll spoil your reading.

American Tabloid - book cover picture

I'm beyond words. It is pulp fiction at it's most riveting. It is history and conspiracy turned upside down. It is humanity in criminals and criminality in heroes and lots in between. I love Ellroy's style. This first bit of fiction of his that I have read and I can't wait to read the rest of his novels. He is amazing. The story is complicated, but you never get lost. It is "What if.." history. It is fact and lots of fiction, but it works. Just read it. If you love Ellroy, crime fiction, historical fiction, or just a good book...this is it.
