High praise for Eragon and its author
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
Christopher Paolini's Eragon novel is a stellar accomplishment that stands out as rollicking story with all the elements that makes a book a classic for the ages.In our extended family, we have read Eragon with enthusiasm and joy at the tale. We are anxiously awaiting the next book. The Bad News Bears reviewers are entitled to their opinion, but Tolkien, McCaffrey, Jordan, and Brooks are not Gods, nor are their books entirely unique. Authors have liberally borrowed themes from history and mythology from other cultures.Mr. Paolini has created a new world that is real and self-sustaining. Eragon has that special magic, hence the response that we hear everywhere at our childrens' schools, bookstores, socials, Wal-Mart. "You have to read this book. This is a great new book. I love Eragon."Della Farnsworth

This is an excellent story of the wonderful and horrible
cricumstance in which pre-historic peoples may have lived. MacKey's expert
telling of the clash between Martifocal and Patriarchal
societies illustrates the effects of culture clash not only
on the subjucated but the victorious as well.
I would recommmend this book to anyone has any interest in
history, matrifocal culture, multiculturalism or a fan of a good story.

Beauty in symbolism
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
The site description says 'A Wrinkle in Time' is a kids' book, but trully you can't enjoy the vast depths of symbolism and religious undertones unless you read it as an adult.
I was moved to tears over the writter's commentary about mind- body dualism. -We must realize we are spiritual beings resist Evil, whose job is to make us think we are but mortal zombies!
Beautiful, beautiful. Anyone with a thirst for wisdom MUST read this book, and the rest in the series!

What this working mom has been wishing for

I got this book as a Christmas present. Even though I haven't had the chance to cook anything from it yet I know I will become one of my most used books. This book has great skillet dinners and slow cooker recipes for weeknights and wonderful casserole dishes for the weekends. It uses some cooking shortcuts, like canned soup and refrigerated dough, but doesn't skimp out what I consider a homemade meal!Even though I consider myself an experienced cook I really enjoy the helpful hints and spotlights.I have read it from cover to cover and the only difficulty I have had is deciding what to make first!

One of the best series I've ever had the pleasure to read!!
Rating: 5/5

I can't remember when I got so caught up in a book . After I read every single one of the books,I couldn't wait for the next one in the series to come out. I am really hoping there will be a fifth book in the series. We need to find out what happens to the baby. The last one in the series, The Voyager, was just as great as all the rest, but it didn't end the whole story line for me. It left me wanting more, so I have been watching the book stores with baited breath waiting for the next one to come out. PLEASE HURRY!!!!

excellent reading
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
I read the book out of curiosity. I enjoyed the book immensely. I enjoyed the reviews more. A book is the author's attempt to explain the story. It doesn't have to be agrred upon by readers nor does it have to have the "politticaly correct topic". The book left me feeling good about my afro-american heritage. it was refreshing to know that everyone was not a slave, afflicted and burdened. Times have changed but clearly the changing times have left a negative impact on who we are as a people. HBCU's are not as relevant as they once were, as an example. The book added another dimmension of black history. I have given the book to my 13 year old daughter to read.

The memories abound
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Hardcover
Having grown up in Detroit during the fifties I can vouch for all written in the Novel. Dad worked in the Auto Shops and many of his stories were repeated by the Author. I remember as a teenager the next generation of the Detectives in this story. They were the Big Four. A black unmarked Buick with two giant Detectives and two a little smaller uniformed officers that never smiled. We still respected the law in those days. They made sure of it. The novel was teriffic with plenty of known landmarks and memories including streetcars. I highly recommend reading it.

I Could Not Put This Down

..and I read it in a day (9 hours), only stopping once, to eat. As a mother of a son and daughter, one of whom is a teenager--and not to get too mystical, here-- I was reluctant to go on the journey I knew this book would take me. At the risk of sounding schmaltzy, I must say that from the beginning I felt gently guided by Susie, the narrator of the story. She, and her story, and her family's story, took me by the hand, gently reeled me in, quietly assuring me that not only would I be brave enough to read this book, but that I would be glad I had in the end. I love every moment of this book. It is exquisite. And I am very picky.

A must-read
Rating: 5/5
Binding: Paperback
I expected this to be a comical romp, instead I found a wonderful novel that made my heart ache with compassion and understanding. Of course, there were laugh-out-loud moments, but interwoven was a very true thing. Those reviewers who just didn't get it, have simply never known the joys and pains of motherhood and how they swirl about in a career world. Having worked full-time as an executive with baby #1, and then on to full-time mom for baby #2, I've seen both sides of the coin and Ms. Pearce nails it, perhaps at times in a caricature kind of way, but nonetheless heartbreakingly with truth. This is a book I will recommend to other moms, but would not recommend to a man...because I just don't know how he would get it.
